Here we have some top graduates sharing their ideas.
Wang Yi San Bian
Year 2021 Design Stream graduate
From the junior high school to the UF program, I want to thank the good teachers I have met along the way of the six years. They are both good teachers and good friends. Discuss and debate with us eagerly, and the learning atmosphere is very good.
There are many student activities in the school, which give me many opportunities to show myself, such as art festivals, dance talent shows, etc. I am awarded the title of “Campus Dance Talent” almost every year, and many opportunities to show myself allow me become more confident.
The courses of UF Design stream are very diverse, including design studio, design theory courses, professional courses in design software such as PS, AI, Id, etc., and critical thinking, culture and communication courses. The rich course arrangement has laid a good foundation for my study in architectural design.
English learning is very important as well. I remember a sentence Bruce said in the first year of high school: “English is just a tool for communication for you in the future.” If we can’t even use the most basic tools well, let alone learn professional courses. As a design student, it is very important to clearly express one’s own design concept. It is really in vain if you can’t express your design well. Therefore, every day should set aside some time for English learning, such as reading English books and magazines, listening to English news and so on.
This year in the design stream made me understand the importance of creativity, patience, teamwork ability and multi-angle dialectical thinking ability to design. About creativity first. The school provides us with a lot of space. Let us see design cases, go to exhibitions, listen and see more, and the more we see, the more inspiration we will have.

Year 2020 Design Stream Graduate
During the two and a half years in the school, I learned skills, changed my way of thinking, and gained friends. Pre-foundation learning has laid a foundation for English language, helping to adapt to the transition from Chinese classrooms to English classrooms. The design classroom of the foundation provides an open and free learning environment, and the design classroom environment is clean and comfortable. The ability to pre-learn Adobe software lays the foundation for a college design classroom. During the completion of several projects, I discussed with friends and improved the ability of social group cooperation, and some courses gave us a sense of the importance of critical thinking.

Year 2021 UF graduates
The teachers are nice and the curriculum allow me to feel that I have a solid foundation in the fast-paced study of the university. Many university courses are related with design core courses, such as the use basic design software. The International Department provided me with a good environment to lay the foundation step by step.
In addition, I have always been interested in fashion design, but I have only been exposed to sketching and Chinese painting from childhood. Fashion design is a brand-new subject for me. Learning from the basic human body and color is not a small challenge, I also learned how to start from the basic design knowledge, step by step to find inspiration, make plans, and complete works.
In the process of learning design, I think the most important and difficult part is how to make your work communicate with the audience. Any piece of design should aim to express a certain emotion, thought or theme, rather than simply piled up with color lines and looks shining. The biggest difference between design and the other two courses is that design is very subjective. What matters is what you want to do, not what others want to see. During the two years at Jiangning, big or small assignments, activities and exhibitions provided our design class with a platform to show others to express what we wanted to express.
