Global warming is one of the most serious challenges mankind is facing today. Sea level rise threatens the coastline, increasingly frequent droughts continue to change the ecosystem, and global carbon emissions continue to increase. To build a sustainable and livable world is the common goal, which requires each of us to make a commitment to energy conservation and emission reduction.
In order to better convey the concept of carbon neutrality and promote the concept of green and low carbon, the Student Union of the International Department of Kunshan Middle School in Jiangsu Province launched a series of activities of “Zero carbon and action on campus”. As the first activity, the “Usher in a green New Year” project requires students to make creative environmental protection products from waste materials in groups under the framework of PBL project-based learning, “save” and “do their best” to further implement the concept of low carbon and strengthen the awareness of low carbon.
The series of activities of ” Zero carbon and action on campus ” is one of the important explorations of our school to help realize the low-carbon transformation of campus and promote climate education. The young generation not only needs to reserve knowledge, but also needs to strongly identify with a zero-carbon future in the depth of consciousness.
This series of activities also highlights the continuous thinking and importance of the cultivation of students’ global competence. Global competency topics such as acting for collective well-being and sustainable development will also continue to permeate future teaching and campus activities, making students feel the connection with the social and natural environment, and making continuous positive contributions to our environment and community.
