On December 10, 2021, the results of the UF global final exam score were released. On December 17, I received a biomedical offer from the University of Queensland as I wished, and I was admitted with a score far above the cutoff. I am so proud of you, my dear son! Standing at the starting point of happiness, looking back at the special struggle during the special period of the epidemic this year, it is really ups and downs, and the situation continues.
On the evening of December 22, 2020, while I was on night shift, I suddenly received a call from the head teacher, saying that you had accidentally broken a bone at school! fracture! I put down the phone and ran all the way to the hospital. When I saw you, my heart was cold and broken! The left ankle joint was completely dislocated, and the entire left foot appeared deformed. Emergency treatment that night, and rushed to Zhejiang No. 2 hospital the next day to complete CT and MRI examinations.
After that, we were faced with a dilemma between surgery and conservative treatment. Because there is less than a month left, you will face the final exam. This exam determines whether you can successfully enter the university. I hesitated. Initially, we decided to treat conservatively. Four days later, at the suggestion of a friend, I went to Shanghai Huashan Hospital to find Director Hua, the best ankle orthopedic expert in the country, to see the outpatient clinic. He clearly suggested surgery. Following his advice, we quickly rushed back to the Hospital to find Director Miao Xudong. God help you too, Director Miao arranged for us to be admitted to the hospital immediately, so we were in time for the operation on December 31. Such a schedule can minimally impact your studies.
Looking back now, I am ashamed to find that in the mind of the old mother at that time, the attention to your study and that exam seemed to surpass the attention to the injured leg. On the morning of December 31, the operation went well, but it was more complicated than expected. After you came out of the operating room and woke up from anesthesia, the pain was unbearable and you said, “I feel like my foot has been amputated.”
On the third day after the operation, we were discharged from the hospital;
On the fifth day after surgery, you go to school in a wheelchair.
Thanks for the help from the teachers of Entel. You can take elevator to go up and down the stairs. Teachers of all subjects guide you in your studies. All students take care of you in life, ensure your lunch, and help you with your daily needs. It is their meticulous and wholehearted help that makes your study not affected at all. At the end of the final exam, you achieved a median score and successfully entered the new phase. A stone in the heart of the old mother fell to the ground. In the first half of the preparatory semester, with the gradual recovery of the injured leg, you were in a wheelchair, crutches, and wearing auxiliary shoes, and you were getting better day by day. Finally, after the preparatory mid-term exam, you can walk normally.
Looking back on the past, I am very fortunate that we made the right choice in the middle school. Hangzhou Entel Foreign Language School made you grow. At the parents meeting before enrollment, it was the first time that Principal Jianhua preached Entel’s philosophy: to cultivate healthy students for the unpredictable future. I deeply agree. Today, because of my personal experience, I am even more moved and touched. Indeed, in five and a half years and more than 2,000 days, Intel has created such a beautiful you for our parents: clear goals, future-minded, bright eyes, and healthy physique.
Since the beginning of junior high school, Entel has strengthened English teaching. Together with excellent students, you will study hard in class, speak and participate actively; outside of class, everyone will unite and love, and play various games and activities together, such as English speeches, drama, film and television dubbing, etc., so that learning is not boring, but full of changes and interest. You have participated in many clubs such as Model United Nations, and you have also cooperated with your classmates to complete class performances such as English Festival, New Year’s Day Party, Sports Meeting and so on. Harmonious and healthy atmosphere and platform, rich and colorful experience and exploration, let you gradually breed the motivation and goal of self-development from an ignorant boy. Remember, you quietly applied for the school’s flag-raising team. It was a pleasant surprise when we found out that you appeared in the flag-bearer team during the school sports meeting.
The best thing about Entel’s education is that it paces appropriately, without excessive academic pressure, waiting for the child’s mental growth, which is subtly and silently moisturizing in the education process. Gradually, you are no longer a playful little boy, and gradually have your own ideas and goals for progress, and start planning your own study and career. Junior high school has laid a good academic and mental foundation. In the three years of high school, we no longer need to grasp the rhythm for you, urge you to study, and do not need to warn you: don’t stay up late, don’t play games too much, and don’t sleep late. You can be self-disciplined, self-planned and self-arranged. Our parent-child relationship has also entered a good interaction, because we can trust you, you are also happy, we will not bother you, nagging you, control you. What makes me happiest is that all of this comes from internal drive. It is your own initiative to grow, and it is the result of letting nature take its course, rather than being forced or spawned by us as parents. I firmly believe that you could manage yourself and gradually take control of your own life. Therefore, we are full of confidence and reassurance that you are about to travel alone and study abroad.
