Wasatch Academy is established in 1875, has a history more than 140 years, is the best private boarding school in Utah and is keeping that award for more than 17 years. Wasatch Academy has many experiences working in China and with famous Chinese high schools and has its goal of cultivating students with global vision. Wasatch Academy encourages critical thinking, independent thinking, and research-based learning. The educational mission is to nurture young people from all over the world and help them develop academic knowledge, social skills and morality. In order to prepare for university study in the future.

October 23 afternoon, Mr. Joseph Loftin, Principal of Wasatch, and Mr. Graham, International Vice Principal, and Mr. Chris, Director of the Chinese Program, visited the Nanjing Foreign Languages School Xianlin Campus. Principal Dong met with the guests and the heads of the two schools cordially discussed about the development of the WA program in Xianlin. Principal Joseph highly recognized the school’s strong support for the program and the good results of the recent graduates. He also expressed his satisfaction and gratitude for the cooperation of both schools, and to continue enhancing the exchange of visits between teachers and students of the two schools in the future, and promote the continued steady development of the Wasatch program in Xianlin.

Principal Joseph then met with the students and introduced the history of Wasatch Academy and the students of the home campus; encouraged the students to lay a good foundation in the three years of high school, pay attention to the improvement of personal ability, and make necessary preparation for the future university in the United States. He recognized the foreign teacher team in the end, asking students to be grateful to foreign teachers and communicate with foreign teachers more often.

Then, students from three grades: SA10D Peng Chufei talked about the learning and life experience of Grade 10; SA11D Pang Yuqi thanked the US and our school for the Sino-US education platform, creating a real American high school learning environment for students. As a graduating class student, SA12A Wang Ruoyi recalled studying at school and shared his feelings about going to study in the United States. The students present also actively interacted with Principal Joseph to ask questions.

In the end of the meeting, Principal Cheng presented gifts to President Joseph on behalf of Nanjing Foreign Languages School Xianlin Campus. It’s cross-stitch-Beijing opera mask that represents the traditional Chinese culture and is made by the students. Principal Joseph likes the gift very much.

Though the meeting lasted not for long, Principal Joseph gave our students a high evaluation and also placed deep hopes. After the meeting, Principal Joseph also communicated with the foreign teachers.
