The University of New South Wales, located in Sydney, the city known as a business and fashion center of the southern hemisphere, is known as the “MIT in the Southern Hemisphere”. It has been ranked among the top 50 universities in the world and is one of the founding members of Australia’s G-8 schools. There are many Nobel Prize winners in the school, Australia’s number one, and the top ten management schools in the world; QS2019 World University Global Ranked 45; Australian college graduates’ annual salary and employment rate 1st school.

In April 2016, the UNSW Foundation Program (UF) was officially established in Xu No.1. We became the sixth new pre-university course base in China.

In order to ensure the operation of the UF course, the Dean of the UNSW Foundation Studies will visit the International Department of our school every March. Having Face-to-face communication with teachers and students. At the same time, lead students to understand UNSW more intuitively and comprehensively.

On March 5th, 2019, Mr. Darren Finlay, Dean of the UNSW Foundation Studies, visited our school, and the International Department of our school received a warm reception.

First of all, Mr. Finlay communicated with the leaders of the International Department, expressed his high appreciation and affirmation for the excellent performance of last year’s graduates of the UF program. He also highly recognized the school and AHEAD Education for the operation of UF in Xuzhou No.1 Middle School.

After that, Mr. Finlay met with the students and introduced the top majors, learning environment, faculty and facilities of UNSW, with a detailed introduction to the entry requirements for some majors, emphasizing the importance of language skills in the study. He also emphasized the importance of the foundation study to students, and introduced the available online learning resources for us. It is also recommended that students know the target majors in the school’s official website in advance and prepare from an earlier stage.

During the period, the Grade 11 and 12 students actively asked questions to learn more about the calculation method of the GPA, the accommodation requirements and precautions under the age of 18.

Finally, Mr. Finlay held the UF Teacher Conference. He affirmed the outstanding teaching achievements of the teachers of Xuzhou No.1, especially highly praised the Xuzhou School for achieving the 100% Australian G8 school admission rate for two consecutive years! He communicated with teachers about the teaching ideas and opinions of each subject, emphasized the scoring rules of the various disciplines of UF, and clarified the bridging between UF foreign teachers in China campus with Australian campus. Mr. Finlay also listened to the problems encountered in the teaching of various subjects with the teachers and gave advice of help. The meeting had been concluded with success.
