Chief Executive Officer UNSW Global Pty Limited

The UNSW Foundation Studies Program is the first and foremost pre-university foundation program in Australia. In 2014 UNSW Foundation Studies proudly celebrated its 25th year of operation and its 20,000th student. These students have come to us from over 80 countries and have gone on to successfully complete their university qualification at UNSW, a founding member of the Group of Eight universities in Australia. Many of our past students are now global business leaders in countries in Asia and the Pacific rim.

The UNSW Foundation Studies Program commenced on the Kensington campus in Sydney in 1989 with 142 students. The program now enrols more than 2,500 students each year across over 13 campuses in 5 countries. Jiangsu Ahead in China is the largest of the external campus partners contributing to the success of the UNSW Foundation Studies Program outside of Australia.

A key component to the success of the UNSW Foundation Studies Program is the delivery of high quality academic programs which provide a perfect preparation and matriculation pathway to undergraduate study at UNSW. Jiangsu Ahead has a clear understanding of the importance of quality in education and this has been achieved through the hard work of the management team at Jiangsu Ahead, the dedicated support from the Principals and staff at the Chinese partner High Schools and the team at UNSW.

As the UNSW Foundation Studies Principal I am proud to be associated with Jiangsu Ahead in this co-operation, and thank them for their ongoing support and professionalism over the past 7 years and I look forward to the continuation of this successful partnership in the future.

Global, which enables successful students to gain access to undergraduate programs at UNSW and the other G8 Universities. The program is an intensive preparation for undergraduate study at UNSW and other Australian universities.  This program is a co-operation with UNSW Global, Jiangsu AHEAD and elite partner high Schools in China.

The main advantages of this program are that:-

• The program is governed by the Australian Government Regulations called the National Standards for Foundation Year;

• The curriculum is devised by UNSW Global so that students will have the best preparation for university study;

• The program is strictly supervised by a subcommittee of the UNSW Academic Board;

• Students who study the program in China have exactly the same lessons as those who study the program at UNSW Sydney;

• The exams are set by UNSW Global and all exam papers are marked at UNSW in Sydney;

• Students receive a report mid way through the program. This report is a good indicator of what will be achieved at the end of the program. This means students and parents can start planning with confidence for their future studies at UNSW and other Australian Universities.

UNSW Global has been in co-operation with Jiangsu AHEAD since 2007. In 2007 the program started with 70 students and was delivered by the Nanjing Foreign Language School. Since then the program has expanded to 6 other elite high schools in China with great success.  The majority [over 85%] of the students, who have enrolled in this program in China, have successfully entered into the G8 universities in Australia upon completion of the UNSW Foundation Studies Program.

This has been achieved through the hard work of the management team at Jiangsu AHEAD, the dedicated support from the Principals and staff at the Chinese partner High Schools and the team at UNSW.

It is important to note that the success of this program in Chinese High Schools as been helped greatly by the support of the senior management in each high school who have provided Jiangsu AHEAD and UNSW Global with all the infrastructure required to deliver the program in such a successful manner.

As the UNSW Global Manager of the UNSW Foundation Studies Programs in China, I am very proud to be associated with Jiangsu AHEAD in this co-operation, and thank them for their continual support and professionalism over the past 7 years and I look forward to the continuation of this successful co-operation.
